Afternoon Pint by Christopher ShinYou sit across
from me with wonder
and curious eyes.
I tell you all
the stories that
makes you comfortable,
but you don't know
the black and ink
that lingers behind
my eyes.
You catch me staring
into the open world,
as I zone out for a
moment.
Asking where I was,
and I tell something normal
because my thoughts
dive further into
the velvet.
I stare again and
miss the joy that
love once held for me,
but time is flowing
out of me like a
painful gash.
So I gnash my teeth,
as I gulp the bitter
and time down with
each swallow from the
pint. 12/23/2009 Posted on 12/23/2009 Copyright © 2025 Christopher Shin
