Confectioner's Delight

by Christel Crews

naked trees dipped in sugar
pines draped in white fur

marshmallows crunch beneath my feet
men of snow evading heat

crispness fills the air
children playing, families near

candy-coated chocolate mounds
we drive along the slushy rounds

one more glance upon the scene
before it melts back into my dreams

12/21/2009

Author's Note: first real snow in the ohio river valley and this southern girl is loving it!

...and one can tell your delight by the joy in this poem you offer. Thanks.
