dementia

by David Hill

mother
suspends in sea

conch shell ears,
words lost in spirals

flailing limbs
tangle in sea weed

frantic, her
murky mouth yodels

i strain, distend,
fathom glub, glub,glub

slowly,
the tide pulls her away….

Very, very eerie. In an awesome, awesome way. "words lost in spirals" was probably my favorite line, but the whole thing made for a great read.

It is something few if any of us are prepared to deal with and you describe it so well. Nicely done.
