We Can Talk About The Trees (MATURE) by Ken HarnischCome to me, darling
I know the ache is upon you
And the one in me is insurmountable
We can sip whatever you like
On the covered balcony
And talk about the trees
Or even politics, if that
Is your wont.
I will lean hard on my
Elbows and pretend
I’m fascinated, and only speak
When I am spoken to. You
Have a lifetime to divulge
And the hour is growing
Purple-late
I will not overtly
Suggest we take this to
My room. You can
See the key there on the
Table and you know it unlocks
A second story door
You have a need
To be mysterious. Well so be it.
My own predilection is
Towards the planting of kisses
On flesh fold too intimate to name
And that shudder that just
Went through your soul
Tells me you know it, too
