real men have vaginas

by Nanette Bellman

your penis is not an excuse for you to be an insensitive prick
not in my book at least. and, i don't care what you prick with it either.
there is nothing set in you, genetic, that gives you the right to be heartless, in any form.

testosterone doesn't make you feel or not feel.
and despite what you think or have been taught or instilled,
feelings are not light switches, you just turn off and on.
they are not just things you can stop and start at one's leisure or personal preference.
they are just not that easy. they answer to no one.

i'm not saying you must live your life in a pre-menstrual dysphoric daze like i do one week out of the month.
you don't have to shed tears down your cheeks.
or share everything at once like some of us have grown accustomed to do.

use your heart inside your chest and feel and listen and become sensitive.
smile at your children, play with them and laugh.
tell your wife you love her and comfort her when she's feeling...

because after it's all said and done, at the end of the day,
you're a human being, made to feel and think and act and be this way...

being a man doesn't mean you have to be the man.

Atticus Finch (the character) in To Kill A Mockingbird is a perfect example of a man who is real man. I wish the little toughie wannabes' could crawl out of their delusional brains and discover manhood.

Fine keen insightful writing, N.<

This is excellent throughout, in terms of strength, insight, word-choice, the whole lot. Each line a worthy lesson to boys aspiring to become men. I personally like to distinguish them that way: boys/men -- I don't care how old a male is, if they act like a boy they are a boy. Men, to me, are the men you speak of -- the males who seem to have vaginas amongst other favorable attributes. Thanks for sharing, Nanette.
