People Don't Own Other People by Joan Serratelli"People don't own other people"
she told me that
she was barely two years old
and yet she knew
Truer words were never spoken
I laughed until I cried
how could one so young
know so much?
I knew right then and there
that she was smart
I knew that her will was strong
and she would grow
and become independant
No one could ever own her
but I knew I could borrow her
She had so much wisdom
I still think of that day
and smile
She is the light of my life
My youngest daughter
could never be bought
and I would gladly sacrifice
my life just to see her smile 12/05/2009 Author's Note: I'm very lucky to have her in my life. I thank G-d every day for her.

| Posted by Gregory O'Neill on 12/05/09 at 08:27 PM As a child will utter amazing truths, we too soon learn to "doctor" our stances for a politically correct world. Bless the child who
may retain something of themselves beyond the world's attachments. And bless this one for the light she brings to you. Well said, Joan. Thanks. |
