imagine me and you...i did...

by Nanette Bellman

he wanted it to be the last thing he said to me.
i could tell it in his tone.
but i wouldn't allow it.
"think of me..."

"no way. then i'll have crazy Twilight dreams again.
like holding hands in a field of flowers
and shivering from who knows what but not being cold,
and then you start holding me..."

i didn't care how well he sang the Turtle's "Happy Together" at that moment.

"seriously, you don't think of me so it's even..."

"that's not true."
this time there was a hint of sincerity in his voice.

"then what do you think about?"

"i think about what you're doing...
and how you could be here...
and what we would be doing together..."
