Safe in My Dream

by Clara Mae Gregory

High upon the cliff

Looking over sensuous seas

With sapphire skies

And safe in my dream

For thousands of miles

I can see

While the clouds

Cloak and protect me

My passion adumbrates

Within my heart

Counting the beats
As they wait their release

Into your possession

As you beckon

The scene in my dream
I peruse with intensity

Still balking afraid
To peer over the edge

Bygone is the acumen

Since your adulation

Has ruined my head

So I wait

To take your hand

Lift off like cliff swallows

Over the land

Riding adroit
On the Soft summer breeze

Absorbing all of
Our adversity

And safe in my dream
