We Two

by Rachel Bennett

Somehow we two are one -
Sharing skin already
By bone and sinew stretched,
We are as sponge and water -
Each fuller with both
And both more useful than each.

Somehow we two are two -
With hook and loop we embrace,
Maintaining line, though fill
May bleed over across us -
Though halves of the same fruit,
Separate halves we remain.

Somehow we two are three -
Root and fifth mingling,
Amazed, we clearly hear nearby
A voice of honey and biscuits -
Placated, we float from
Three two one.

what I love so much in this piece, is how you play with your work, like ivy upon a trellis, u curl and twist and tease the reader with your lines...I also love how your stanzas work independently, each with their own fresh imagery and ideas...kudos, nice read, peace, jewels
