the kid down the street by Charlie Morgani'm a busy man; just yesterday,
i was pocketing a new moment,
and trying to sort out old ones.
but, on my porch today, resting.
when he stepped up to the porch,
he was drenched in innoncence;
shaking off the morning darkness,
settling in Sunshine, he starts:
"i passed Sisyphus, he was pushing his boulder;
he nodded as i pushed mine by him; a grin
accompanied his falling sweat o' the aeons.
everybody's relenting devotion is to self;
makes the weight of life shift.
troubles pile-up; a mound of fall leaves."
practicing to be a poet, his mind feeds
on Ego and old pirate jokes; hungriest
is his ego, old pirate jokes don't last.
as he shifts his gaze dodging the Sun,
looking with a squint into my eyes,
where's Kai? inside? at the sitters?
he asks. really the kid wants me to read
his latest poetic lines: pronounce him: Ralph
Waldo Emerson and instead i say:
Shakespeare! finally, great to meet you;
wonderful to meet the great Shakespeare!
he walks off mumbling, 'the world is a stage.'

| Posted by Joe David on 11/05/09 at 04:04 AM Archimedes took a swing at Sisyphus but hit the boulder instead jarring the lever right out of his hand and that's what made the weight of life shift. Dude, I love this thing. You are developing a hell of a fine style of writing. I really enjoy the seemingly casual quality that only comes with practice and effort and developing your native talent. Chaz Man you are becoming a mature poet and I mean that as a highest compliment. This is some excellent work. |
