Iberia

by Rachel Bennett

Peninsular daydreams of Iberia:
I wish they wouldn't so abruptly

stop,

And retreat from breezy syncopations
and rocky cliffs and crags
to this, this landlocked gravity.

I like it! It's not hard to get tied up in thoughts and yearnings for elsewhere: the place that operates at a slightly different rhythm. I'm left wanting more, though, and there's definitely a lot that can be said on the subject. However, as a sketch or as a start, it's great.
