The Pumpkins by Mary Ellen SmithThe pumpkins in the pumpkin patch
are Jack O Lanterns now.
They traded in their mother's vine
for Halloween-ish smiles.
But the light that shines
so bright within...
That light that glows
with every grin,
Soon will flicker just a bit
forgetting it was ever lit.
