Raintap by Rachel BennettRaindrops angrily assault windowpanes and sidewalks, leaving rivulets of crystal and waves of treacherous glass.
Always finding the weakest point of any structure, they slowly destroy everything in their paths.
Impish kamikaze warriors, they accept no terms of peace, preferring instead to fall mercilessly and endlessly.
Now erasing decade upon decade of creation, the raindrops show no favoritism.
They wear down hills, mountains, roads, homes, buildings, skyscrapers.
Angry soldiers leave us no choice but to perpetually move forward, laboring toward new creations, new inventions, new ideas, new masterpieces, new discoveries.
Predictably, these too someday shall be washed away in a monstrous torrent of hope. 01/20/2008 Posted on 10/31/2009 Copyright © 2024 Rachel Bennett
