Standing in another's shoes.

by Greg Williams

They told me,
I walked down the streets observing,
"Stand in their shoes for a day."
I imagined,
humbled and confused,
I saw the lines of the starving and the hungry,
how could this happen to anyone? I thought,
could be a person like me or you,
it nears Thanksgiving now,
I wonder what I could possibly do,
I find myself proactive in the community,
not just imagining that I'm standing in another's shoes.

Author's Note: A rough draft of a poem I would like to submit to a local paper, any comments welcome.
