Epigea

by Joe Cramer

You wake each morning
With such a sweet smile
Facing my eastern shore
With little, sometimes no warning.
You light my longest day
In the waning hours.
I toil wearily under your basking
Searching for my escape
Waiting for just a moment
Away from your glancing glare.
I so often wonder where
Your shadows will fall
Longingly against the day
Dancing, prancing, romancing merrily
As the voluminous shadowed shapes
Sing against the wall.
