someone complained to me
that most poetry
is just a horrible hash
of exhausted cliches
and clever turns of phrase
written by self-important snobs
and wallowing whiners
in an attempt
to be perceived
as deep.

and I suppose
he may be right -
at least to some extent -

but on the other hand...

maybe he's just a schmuck.
