Scared of the dark

by Greg Williams

Its dark,
suddenly trying to sleep during the night I find myself scared,
no noises, no sun, nothing shining in my eyes, nothing is there.
Used to being active, out in the black in a park,
living life in twilight, now try to rest I’m claustrophobic,
the stillness is relaxing yet I’m uneasy,
such a contrast is stark.
Perhaps somday I can enjoy it,
can enjoy nothing until then,
now I spent all night sleeping last night,
so I get to be up for 30 hours, again.

After being up 30 hours, the dark should be most welcome. In fact even light should not keep the eyes open---unless! Your poem just tantalizes speculation!
