beware of the wishing star

by Kimberly Bowen

Stars shatter above my brow
Your broken dust pirouettes circles
Around my lifeless star-spill
In moves in a rhythm motion
Whose count and measure
Mocks the simple wayward roll
Of my tepid breathed soul

The ambiance once black
Blue, broken, and confused
Stands singed by a whisper

Bright firelights of words
Scatter across my disconsolate sky
As they tumble from your lips
Colliding into my wishing stars and
Exploding into a great asteroid monsoon of
My closest kept dreams and cacophonic heart song
Only to swiftly fade within just
A figments caress of my begging finger tip

Brushing at the love
You sent to shadow dance
Silkily skin to skin
Against my silhouette’s shadow

Flitting in and galloping out
It was more than just a whisper of a feeling
It was less than a minuscule touch
Everything I dreamed upon a star for
The one thing I feared my heart for
