unbelievable stillness

by Emily Davidson

he has an unbelievable stillness;
his feet, the undersides of which are so soft,
are resting calmly on the coffee table
the weight of his body pulling him
into the couch

i am slowly squirming
beneath my t-shirt;
a hunger resonating deep within me

his hand, his thick fingers
ignore my touch
his neck, warm and fragrant with the smell of him,
does not react to the gentle pressure of my lips

i place a hand on his chest
observing his eyes which stare blindly
ahead of him
i rest my head lovingly
beneath his chin

he calmly puts his hand
on my shoulder
and pushes me away
