Where Does Time Go?

by Alison McKenzie

Can anyone tell me,
Where does Time go?
Does it simply mark the passage of moments?
Is it energy, Time?
I don’t know.
I only know that
Last year seems like yesterday,
And by the time I’ve got a plan for tomorrow,
It’s long since been.

Maybe it starts as music,
Like the universe,
And after we’re through roughing it up,
It turns into music again.

Maybe it’s just a cosmic loop
Repeating on the backbeat
Of giocoso harmonies,
Dolcissimo dissonance -
The long, slow fade
Of echoes.

... my dear, time doesn't go anywhere, but we sure think it does, it's our narcissism, the world being about us, we think 'time left us' ... i know you know all this, i'm just sayin'...

A really nice write Alison. I think time is one of those things that philosophers have yet to define in any reasonable manner. But what you've put down here will suffice for most of us.

ha, and now it's October once again, it seems like yesterday I found out I was pregnant with my third and he's already 15 months old! Time is like an old friend, you forget about them but every once in a while you get a Christmas card in the mail and think "Wow, that time already?"
