Clocks Turning

by Joe Cramer

You saw all of the clocks
Tick, tick, tocking
Along the walls.
I've moved twice since,
Hence I know
That all has changed.
I would love you, unreserved,
The way that you deserve,
Desire, require.
I carry this angst
Thoughout all of my days.
There's Plenty of Fish
In the sea, baby.
I let you slip away from me.

I like this,Joe. I like the way you employed cliches leading up to that last line, which to me, is the most powerful: " I LET you slip away ". On a deeper level, it provokes the question, do we or do we not, have any control of our destiny?
