"Seeing"

by Max Phineas

And today I looked up and saw
Instead of running away
I listened instead of hiding
turned off my mind
and switched on my heart.

Tonight the voices scattered,
Skittered away.
I refused their influence
And trusted in myself

to overcome the conditioning
that causes me to flee.
I met life head-on
I learned,

And I Smiled.

Author's Note: More often than not, the strangers we encounter are much like ourselves.

A couple of things, I like this, as to your authors night, I agree, we discover strangers are as strange as we are:P
