the Buddha remains
in sweet silence,
serene candle-lit
the face of solitude

as night draws its shade
the sky darkens slowly
stars crowd in lowly
as if they were made
for this moment
to blanket this interlude

the Buddha will sit
in repose, a rememberance
the sweet somber silence
of time's refrains
