this painting belongs to you

by Carissa Dewey

The fan's rotating beats
hang with my attention,
here I am
thoughts wrapped around you.
These empty beer bottles and
my slight haziness taking blame
for this ache-
and my
numb thoughts.

Outside it’s raining and a cool
breeze carries aromas
of a distant farm
against my bareness,
keeping me dull-
still

and I feel like I’m a brush stroke
hanging on your wall.

this is excellent. is this the first time i've read your stuff? i'm going to read more. your style is elegant and stylish...if that makes sense. your fan beats...magnif. i read this three times, which i rarely ever do. you jammed a lot of feeling in this...i love it.

... Gorgeous ... soft and gorgeous with underlined depth and strength ... I really like this. I may be VERY new at writing poetry, but have studied classics and know what I like.
