motion

by Angela Thomas

this is the feeling i never had. the both of us wanting to see
each other so badly that we'd risk everything. leaving your wife
and kids at home to sleep while we fall in love under the stars.
just sitting our asses on a slab of concrete at 3:22am, watching

new york city come home for the night. your eyes are focused
on me and i see your face light up. the right answer during
a pop-quiz. in the picture i have of your kids, it's the exact
same expression on their two little faces. i haven't even left yet.

how am i going to spend all this time away from you?
maybe you will hop on a plane and surprise me. stroll out
of a gate on a crisp fall day, feet thudding softly on the
grass, all ablaze and on fire with the sun's awesome rays.

maybe you will walk, kiss me on the mouth hard, grab
my hand in yours, and sit down to watch the wind move
through the branches of the great sequoia trees in napa.
there's a life somewhere that we could live together, i'm sure of it.

Very well written; I like here the lack of capitalization and punctuations, lets this poem breathe.
