I Miss You Too

by Ken Harnisch

I miss you too

Just thought you’d like to know that
Given this psychic wave
That just rippled through me
And told me I was not alone

I smile, perhaps more thinly
Than yesterday, because
The ache of missing you
Is sometimes needful of
Amelioration. I look for
You in all the old familiar
Haunts and go home
Long after I realize
You aren’t there

I sometimes think
About you being real
And what I might say
Were you standing here;
I might be tongue-tied
Or at least not glib;
You have a way
Of quieting me
And I really
Don’t know why

About this desire,
You have always
Been more sly
Or wise. You show
Nothing of it in
Yourself other
Than to acknowledge
It in me, and somehow
When I do, I can
See you in the mirror

You know how I feel:
It is often enough
I say it, after all
I know you miss me
Enough to tell me
You’ll catch up
With me soon

I wait to be caught
With the usual flair
And at the usual time

I want to be there when
You really need me

Without saying it,
You always know I will

This so very well done Ken. It is a simple straight forward feeling that speaks on many levels.

...Ken, did she ever look-back? a soothingly good write, strength yet lamentation...i like i like.
