needle and thread by Charlie Morganwith half his front teeth gone,
he gives me a half-piano grin,
as we both bow and surrender in-like;
as a hand from Chad flies-up, points skyward,
"Charlie!" good morning! Charlie!"
i pocketed the happy moment. a talisman.
i throw my arm away to the clouds: "Chinto!"
my feet lift-off as i sail on a carpet of love.
Chinto, is an archictect for my day, hammers-away
at my heart and soul, makes me better.
the great divide closes, the torn garment is darned.

| Posted by Joe David on 09/16/09 at 04:37 PM Chaz, you must be The King of grabber openers. Seems like everyone of your poems I've read of late have first two lines that just pull me in and make me want to read more. I also especially like the mental picture of you pocketing the moment. And of course it reminds me of a country song lyric "silver threads and golden needles can not mend this heart of mine", etc. Another good one. |
