Lingers

by Joe Cramer

The sun reaches its long fingers
out in the early morning
touhing the cool earth.
So softly these waves of light
break against the dew dropped ground.
A gentle peace reigns and does surround,
as the land somehow feels right.
Slowly shadows diminish,
hanging on for all their worth.
Then they're gone, without warning
as still, the quiet morning lingers.
