the donkey in a suit, elephant in a tractor. by Jared FladelandSix in the morning, plant the seed,
Grumble about yesterday's news,
Eat an egg or two.
Two hours later,
Rain, heavy,
Six percent of the field wasted
But you go inside,
Drink a cup of coffee.
Noon.
Complain about the donkey on TV,
Spray the field with pesticide,
Go in for lunch. Nap.
By three you harvest,
And by then you're smirking because
Only half is worth a bean.
By six you're eating supper
With the million dollar government check beside
Your plate.
Complain about a donkey in a suit once more.
Watch Lawrence Welk.
Sleep.
Do it all again next year. 09/10/2009 Author's Note: I feel dirty writing this.
