Granada City Blues

by Eric Hinkle

Chorus 1

Amazing architectural
awesomenicity
shining-maze streets
and wondering eyes
wandering souls
like mine, oh ha oh wow
water bottle warm
refill in monumental
fountain
in monumental gargantuanic
garden-park
birds not chirping
only cars & wind
chirping
And random kids being
typically random

Chorus 2

Ants & cigarette butts
And a lack of earthworms
Gin and tonic nowhere to
be found
That´s fine, gimme cerveza
y vino - tinto perhaps
Ah, the endless wings of
birds flapping, flipping
burgers into my soul
ja ja ja jibberish I should
learn so I can jibberate
back at them
jet-ski mopeds swimming
down hard rock, no-black
top streets
pig legs and cow beaks
dangling on city streets
from butcher shops
Blood & guts is the norm
here
As well as peace & love
understanding not being
understood but embraced
like a fly in a venus
trap, sad sombre sorrow
But my medicine is out,
in need of a refill
and in need of a new
liver s(p)oon,
Ah but cool it down, sun,
you´re beating too hard
down on my neck.
How do you expect me
to write about your
sunny city, sonny?
Ah but here I go anyway
don´t throw me anything,
but melons tomatoes
and chicas bonitas.

Chorus 3

They say all the women
in Spain are beautiful
But that´s not true.
Only 80% of them are.
Ah, but that does me
no good.
I´ve one at home.
Even if I didn´t, how
could I pick just one
from a sea of sexcellency?
Spain is where my soul
refreshes itself, and
agonizes over loneliness
in a mad sea of women.
Gimme mas vino y cerveza,
por favor.
