august twenty-fourth

by Ava Blu

i watched the waves from the balcony,
as the sun gently rose;

it was sunrise,
i hadn't slept,
hadn't showered

but you grabbed my face,
pulled me close
and gave me a reason to see.

Even the staunchest cynic in town will likely be smiling as they read this. I love the feeling I get at the end of this that these moments are entirely too rare in our lives, but I suppose that's what makes them so wonderful. A memory like this can carry a thousand different emotions with it. You focus on the immediacy of it, describing the scene as though it just happened a few seconds ago. I like that. It's gorgeous work, as always.

I'm in complete agreement with Gabriel. Beautiful poem- going in my favorites.
