like the chorus to the verse by Cassandra LeighIsn’t it funny how some of us listen
our hardest when no one is talking at all?
and that is why summer took so much out of me.
Standing water breeds flies
and it took four desperadoes to boil it away
leaving behind the husks of this semi-charmed year…
…although that introduction sounded rather like the
squealing of the brakes in my ‘96,
I’m moving faster now.
I drove 92 on 85 at 4am
and left that shit behind.
Today, the rain dissolved away
61 days of stomach knots.
After a summer downpour,
this place looks a lot better in the sunlight.
