august twenty-third

by Ava Blu

i can't write about a life i don't know:

your life of travel, patience and
never forgiveness for your sins

i can't write from your eyes
but i'd still love to see them.

You don't have to write about a life you don't know. You've got a couple of universes worth of brilliant material on the life you do know. There's such a well-versed sense of want and hope in this. It's not in any way cheesy or overwrought. It's perfect in its honesty and simplicity. It knows that this is all that needs to be said. I love the hell out of this piece.
