Comfort

by Richard Vince

As the train rolls ever closer
To its destination, I seem to be
The only one looking at the sky.

While others read ideas for
Their work, or snuggle up
Together talking about beautiful
Nothing, or immerse themselves
In the worlds inside others’
Imaginations, I observe the
Fading hues of an overcast sky.

The changing of the clouds as
We pass from hinterland through
Suburbs to city is what gets me
Through the hardest part
Of my journey home.

I wonder how many of my
Fellow travellers are doing
What they want, and how many
Are trying to distract themselves
From wishing they were elsewhere.

I would be watching the sky, the landscape and listening to the sound for the noise the train makes changes as it travels through different locales and density's, and it too will answer you if you listen are you going where you want to be or are you running from whence you came...excellent write and thoughts...I love trains. smh
