25 years, 5 days - The Wilderness
by Jason Wardell
My first instinct is to sleep on the couch
when the city wakes up before the Sun
or crawl below my street-side windows
to wait for the coyotes to come crying.
Author's Note: If I close my eyes real tight I can almost believe it's fireworks and coyotes and not society tracing through the streets night after night.

Being in Denver you are not far removed from those Coyotes. I work in NYC and there are plenty of wild animals in that place...they just happen to mumble the tragedies of overthinking. ~JPP
