grey

by Lisa-Dawn Sparling

all the sudden everything was black,
the sky, the clouds, the rain.
the blackness encompassed me,
my mind, my spirit, my soul.
Everything else was grey,
dirty, unforgiving, grey.
And I became powerless to it all.
I had to swallow it and wallow in it.
The negativity was stronger than anything I had.
So I had to succomb to the grey,
and still all I see is black.
