Pathetic

by Elizabeth Seago

I write for tangible proof,
The intensity of what it is I feel for you.
I write to see your name illuminated
On paper,
Draped in Blue.

I wrote to rip it out of me
How I felt and what I saw.
I wrote to heal the soul in me,
Suture the open wounds behind a clenched jaw.

I wrote. And I wrote. And I wrote.
Sonnets were more tangible than
The verbalization of a broken heart.

I wrote to document the start.
