august second by Ava Bluin your town,
there is a small story
unfolding
a miracle merging
with the hairs on your arm,
and i will use my eyes
to enjoy the
outcome. 08/02/2009 Posted on 08/02/2009 Copyright © 2025 Ava Blu

Posted by Gabriel Ricard on 08/03/09 at 03:39 AM I keep going back to that second stanza. Without it, this would be a really simple (but still good), straightforward short poem, but that second stanza throws it into a wonderful, weird territory that gives an extra dimension that any other writer probably wouldn't be clever enough to think of. |
Posted by Samiah Haque on 08/03/09 at 12:49 PM there is something incredibly feminine about the tone of this poem--and the last stanza doesn't evoke the image of eyes, but lips. |
