pour

by Angela Thomas

oh, just your face when you see me. the way it lights
up. the way you smile, and put your head on my shoulder,
sneak me kisses sandwiched between paperwork, covert
and 'the boss wants to see you' sliding off my coworker's lips.

taking the day off when it rains because my hand in yours
seems more important. and when you stuttered, i died. i was
going to tell you, i can't keep doing this. i just facebooked
your wife on accident, for crying out loud, but then, you stuttered.

stammered. climbed over the word 'mother' and i know exactly
how you feel. it's not right, it's so right. i want to lay in bed
with you melting into my body, holding me tightly and only moving
to kiss my forehead. i'm only happy when it rains. i'm only happy

when it's complicated. pour your misery down. pour your misery
down on me. i'm only happy when it rains.
