Machu Picchu

by Joe Cramer

Somewhere between the heavens and the earth
Hangs Machu Picchu in the balance,
Calling out to me in the moonlight
And once again in earliest morning grayness.
The peruvian goddess sits in somber silence.
Andes Incans rest there in such colorful clothing
Of vivid reds, greens, blues and yellows,
Yellow like the gold Pizarro searched for.
Somewhere, in all of this lies this vision.
