Random Resurrection of Thought

by Malika Bierstein

You're on my mind today, strong
like the lingering scent of body
and breath and wine. There's no remedy
for this kind of hangover, desire
a drunken monkey on my back.
I say it's complicated and you point out the ease, bend
down and pick up the puzzle piece by haphazard piece
in this giving of you and receiving from me,
the commitment from both beings to resurrect
what we believe. It's a gift you have, filling me up
with star fruits and moonbeams until the sugar and shine
come through, though our vibrant waves of energy
sometimes wane into shades of black
and puddles of deep blue.

You have a beautiful way of resurrecting thoughts, Malika. Reading you is like being filled with starfruits and moonbeams...*m.a
