Butterflies in Eyes

by Michael Smith

In
absolute embarassment
I admit
that recently my mind
has been occupied
by more than its fair share of
butterflies.

Alas,
I'm much too seasoned
and believed in,
for common folk
to peer in my eyes
and recognize telltale signs of
a soul's surprise.

Know
it is but nothing-
just a bumbling-
but within these half-dreams
looms the prize
that entices armored hearts to
feel alive.

...man o man, quite a collection of words here, all aiming at the Self and our recognition of same said...you speak of 'seasoned, etc. and even common folk can't see your soul...that is kick butt...a great pome[sic], heavy with a wonderfully fuzzy edge...

Very nice Michael, for it was Alexander Pope wrote, "Charms strike the sight, but merit wins the soul." There is something of the classical era here. Something poetically cross-pollinated, I'm delighted to read it. Welcome back. Thanks.

The science of cause and affect, a fusion of underlapping worlds :>) Effective, thus causing this favourable comment.
