Better for the Writing

by Joe Cramer

All the fears I have
Pour out on the pages.
No one knows,
I never show
How I truly feel.
I am better for the writing,
The penning of a poem,
A phrase, a word or two.
This is exactly what I do
In the description of my life.
My fears are displaced
At the onslaught of day,
Though I never truly escape
Them in this self-same way.
Still flowing onward
I write more and more.
(It is the written word I adore.)
I cannot begin to think
Of what it would be like
Not to read, not to write.
Somehow, it will all turn out right.
I am forever better for the writing.

I suspect, as much as I distrust words, I hope for the same thing. Even if someone gets the exact opposite of what I meant to say, at least maybe they'll walk away with something to think about. What else can one hope for? Good write.
