Beauty Falls Like Leaves

by Allison Smith

I look at you
skin smooth and cool
tight flesh

Soft sounds move in the air
whispers from the swaying grass
as you walk through

I dream
that I dare
touch your cheek
trace your lips with my finger

Lift your chin so your eyes meet mine
