Times—Squared by Julie Adams1
1999
I feasted first on the lights
how they starred a field of rainbows
in my dreamy eyes, aglow was I
alive with a fiery delight

2000-2008
Walking amidst this media mecca
of attraction and lure, I grew numb
to the pulsing energy, burning
burning at both ends...you must...

2009
Nostalgic once again, starry-eyed
where cabbies once fared; cafe tables
line those memories now. Soon I'll be
far from that arching glow, eyes closed,
recalling the many rainbows

Posted by Ken Harnisch on 07/10/09 at 01:57 AM I've been here ages more than you, Jewels...and if i told you how sordid the place used to be i might not be believed. Still, the sight of a homeless guy resting on a lawn chair at Bway and 42nd St two weeks ago did bring me up short..even jaded ol' me..:0 |

Posted by Quentin S Clingerman on 09/09/09 at 07:12 PM Fascinating impact of the passing of the years. Without the child in us we can easily become jaded. When all the glitter and glamor are gone there is then the pleasant glow of memory. Well expressed reflection on the movement of time. |
