Solitude's Bliss

by Alison McKenzie

Alone is the space in between,
Where the particles
Are not colliding,
Where the energy is chillaxin -
Waiting for eternity’s breath.

Alone is my lungs filled to capacity,
Oxygen and the exhale,
Being in the moment
And not hankering after tomorrow
Or next year.

Alone is floating -
Suspended in an alternate reality
By love and not fear.

Alone is me
Stepping into the mirror,
Instead of looking at it,
And feeling that freedom.

Alone is acknowledging
The absence of others
Only to discover
Intimacy of self.

I like me,
And the bliss of it.

Author's Note: It's not as bad as it was, being alone. I'm kinda getting used to it now.
