Your Voice In Whisper

by Melissa Panther

I am not in want of
your love letters because
if it were not your
eyes
it would have been your
hands
or one of your laughs,
the really joyful ones you
let escape without knowing

though it could have been your
lips,
or the way they
slide
into knowing grins

perhaps your
voice,
in whisper
and the attention it grabs,
the focus it seeks

or certainly your posture with its
ancient movements and
casual force

maybe your stride,
directed and propelled, protective
when I am near

every slight and subtle particle
of your past, present, unknown
is your love
in letters
to me

This has the same quality as "Hollow". A misty, vaporous voice, hard to grasp and yet reliable, always there.
