Tiny Baby

by Allison Smith

Tiny baby
Fly home tonight
Your mothers arms are waiting
Sweet, sleeping baby
Let me breathe life into you

Tiny baby
You came to me sleeping
I came to you
Crying
Forgive me
For spilling tears when we met

My breasts still swell
But Heaven nourishes you now
My body longs to hold you
Sleeping sweetly
On my pillow

The minutes tick

Silence draws

Tiny baby
Come, fly home tonight
