Honesty

by Erin Jones

And I screamed through my tears,
“This isn’t how I’m supposed to be,”
He kissed me on the shoulder so gently,
The way that love should truly be,
And all I could do was scream.

Wondering how I became this thing,
Realizing every reason I truly hate me,
Deciding that I really am crazy,
Living in my own version of reality.

The most horrible thing that scares me,
Is that he should see what I am, in all honesty.

Winning isn’t nearly as fun as it should be.
