Henry the Saga continues

by Maude Curtis

Well, when we wuz last here Ah had landed mahself
inta tha coolest digs Ah seen anywhere.
So Ah guess you wanna know wha' happens next
so let's get started there.

**************************************************

So Cy an' Will come ta tha garage ta see me a lot.
Will'd take me on dry rides an' Cy jes took me apart.
Ah'm sayin' tha boy went crazy. Mah parts were everywhere.
Cy is standin' an' scratchin' his head an' thinkin', "Where do I start?"

Once in a while Momma would come out fer a look see
an' jes shake her head. But Cy would jes smile at her.
Sometimes Ron, Chris an' JD would come by fer
some encouragement an' ta drink mah radiator water.

Well this went on fer days, weeks, no months. Maybe a year.
Then one day Cy hauls mah frame up on tha trailer
an' takes it ta be "powder coated". When it got back
all tha dirt an' rust wuz gone an' shiner n Pops' new bailer.

Then he took mah fenders, doors an' such ta be dipped an' primed.
Brought 'em back with all tha dents an' rust gone.
But tha meanest thin' they did wuz went an' painted me "Gray".
An' here Ah set uglier 'n a new borned swan.

Ah wuz hopin' fer somethin' a lil' jazzier, like red.
somethin' dark an' rich like a good merlot.
Wanted ta catch tha chicks eye ya see?
But paintin' me "gray". Now tha' wuz low.

Then he starts puttin' me back tegether.
Jes where are those buddies tha' said back then, "Let's Do It."
Oh yea, they're over by tha ice box drinkin' radiator water.
But when it comes ta work, they'll be gone lickity split.

Tha' wuz slow goin'. Woulda went faster if Cy woulda had "HELP"
Tha only thin' those guys r good fer is givin' advice.
Like does tha' go there or maybe it goes over here?
If they'd get their hands dirty it'd be nice.

Finally Ah wuz all put back tegether.
with new wood an' tinted glass in mah winders.
Ah had new shiny wire wheels with wide rubber tires.
But there were thin's wrong an' Ah hope Cy 'members.

Ah had a five gallon bucket fer Will ta set on,
an' Ah'm kinna bare inside, an' Ah'm still gray.
An' somethin' else wuz missin' too.
Mah motor! It's gonna be hard ta go anywhere thata way.

So one day Cy, Rog, Jeff an' Max loads up tha truck
with tools an' a tarp an' a cooler a "radiator water"
an' heads ta tha junkyard. Tha's where ol' cars go
if they dun have boys in their life, tha crazier tha better.

Several hours later they's back laughin' an' braggin'
'bout this here "Big Block" they got. Ah'm a thinkin'
If tha's wha's in tha back a tha truck an' they think
it's gonna fit in me, Ah want some a wha' they's drinkin'

Tha' motor ain't never gonna fit 'tween mah fenders.
Momma an' Will agrees with me. They laugh an' tell Cy.
"Ain't gonna fit. No Way. No How. Betcha ya can't make it."
Cy jes smiles an' says. "You'll see." They go, "When pigs fly."

Well, we all found out tha' ya dun tell Cy he kan't do somethin',
cause he starts ta cuttin' an' weldin' an' fer ya knowed it
tha' there motor wuz sittin' 'tween mah fenders purty as ya please,
an' Cy is a standin' back an' smilin' an' sayin' "Told ya I'd make it fit."

So wha' if mah hood dun fit nomore. Who needs it? Ah say.
So everybody's standin' 'round an' laughin' an' talkin',
drinkin' radiator water an' havin' a good ol' time,
when som'body says somethin' 'bout paint an' interior, THEN.

Tha monkey wrench hits tha fan. Momma asks, "How much is that gonna cost.
It's already painted gray and why can't you put a seat in it and go?"
Well tha's when Cy drops ta his knees an' starts ta beggin'.
"He can't stay like that. He's gray for pity saks, you know?"

Well Momma's a sucker fer Cy's sweet smile an' pleadin' eyes
an' she says, "If you buy me a Mustang convertible I'll agree."
So Momma got her lil' convertible an' Ah got a garage mate.
Ah put on mah best grin an' set out ta make her like me.

Ah goes, "Hey there Sweetie. Mah names Henry. Wha's yers?"
She turns up her cute lil' grill an' tells me, "My name is Mustang Sally
and I don't associate with old cars. "Well 'xcuuuse me.
Ah'll jes roll back over ta "Tin pan alley".
